Old Cars, New Sounds

Candi & The Strangers Drop Psychedelic Concept Video
Austin,TX based cinematic dream poppers voyage to dimensions unknown with exclusive non-album track

A few weeks out from the February 8th release of Candi and the Strangers new full length, '10th of Always', the band is dropping a special concept video, and non-album single, for their epic, and atmospheric cover of The Cars "Moving In Stereo." Directed and filmed completely by the band's own John Constant, for their House of Constant imprint, the video explores the band's fascinatation with the idea of dimensions existing within an audio realm only; simply put, a world of vibrations and tone. The video also serves as a pre-cursor to the band's upcoming audio-visual full-length animation feature titled Children Of The Tone expected later this year.

Candi And The Strangers wrote the entirety of '10th of Always', soon after producer Erik Wofford (Maserati,The Black Angels, Voxtrot, The Octopus Project, Explosions In The Sky) joined the band in early 2009. The songs were arranged to convey a grand cinematic feel in a live context, enhanced through live visualizations. Candi And The Strangers combine their psychedelic live set with dark angelic orchestrations inspired from their film score work during 2009 and 2010 to make a sonic landscape reminiscent of French dream pop. They will spend the rest of 2011 furthering their relationship to sight and sound and more film score work.

The Battle Of The Pond Continues

The US vs EU

2010

While the 1st wave of surf music was a creation of the US it definitely inspired ears around the world. The sound is surf but the groups creating both the traditional and the many variants are from everywhere. From Japan to Sweden. from Mexico to Croatia it's all good. My friend GSD has put together another of his fine comps pitting the US twangers versus the Euro meisters of todays surf sounds. It's all in fun and gives a nice theme to the sounds that we all love.
